What are beta-glucans?
Beta-glucans are polysaccharides made up of long-chain glucose molecules, found in nature in many different places, such as trees, plants, algae and mushrooms but also in different types of saccharomyces and bacteria. The human body benefits from them in many ways because they have an important ability to activate and strengthen the body's defenses. Their use reduces the level of LDL cholesterol in the blood which leads to a reduction in the risk of ischemic heart disease. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has even defined beta-glucan as a food that helps reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood. The average of "bad" LDL cholesterol, with the use of beta-glucan, can be lowered from 3% to 5% and if the cholesterol value is high it can be reduced by up to 10%. In addition, beta-glucans also help the wound healing process, reduce blood pressure and prevent infections.

Oat beta-glucan
